Nottingham might be best known for its colourful history (not least Robin Hood), but it's a fast-changing, exciting city with a vibrant contemporary scene talent. It has been voted Britain's third-best shopping city, after London and Glasgow. It has Versace, Armani, Ghost, Ralph Lauren, Prada, Karen Millen, Kookai, Jigsaw, Ted Baker and, of course, Nottingham lad Paul Smith. It has, almost effortlessly, become a city of café-bars, comedy clubs, loft apartments, sushi bars, conspicuous leisure and, crucially, club.

There are good road and rail links and plenty of parking. Places to be seen include the classy Lace Market area, the buzzing bars along the canal and the new Corner house complex.
