You don't get much more of a Brilliant Weekends experience than in the Italian capital city of Rome. It's amazing to think that Rome was crumbling before London was even born. To walk around the city as well preserved as it is is a truly breathtaking experience.

But at night is when Roman life truly comes alive. A step over the river into the Trastevere area with its narrow alleys and grand piazzas lined with lively bars, restaurants plus the odd late night shoe shop contrive to bring you the best in European entertainment. Then bar hop up to the throbbing Campo di Fiori (Flower square) where thousands of students and partygoers throng together in the open air until the small hours of the morning.
